Technical Requirements
Kaplan College Preparatory School students can purchase a Dell student study PC (including monitor) for $275. It is available at www.dell.com/kaplan. All students can also purchase software at discounted prices at www.journeyed.com/kaplan.
Hardware and Software Requirements
Below are the recommended Technical Requirements your computer should have in order to complete your online courses smoothly.

Minimum Technology Requirements:
- PC with 1.0 GHz or higher processor clock speed recommended; 233 MHz minimum required; Intel Pentium/Celeron family, AMD family
- Microsoft Windows Operating System: 2000, XP, or Vista (ME is not acceptable as it runs off of Windows 95), or Intel processor-based Macintosh with Operating System OS X with one of these software applications:
- Intel processor-based Macintosh with Boot Camp to run Windows XP Service Pack 2/Vista (sold separately)
- Intel processor-based Macintosh with Parallels for Mac to Windows XP Service Pack 2 (sold separately)
- Microsoft Office 2000 or higher, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- A current antivirus application
- 128MB RAM (256MB-512MB preferred)
- 40GB hard drive or larger
- Super VGA (800x600) or higher resolution video adapter and monitor, 1024x768 resolution strongly recommended
- Sound card with speakers
- CD ROM (CD-RW recommended for saving large files or a USB storage device)
- DSL or cable Internet service provider (ISP) account including a valid email address
- Microsoft Internet Explorer Version 6.0 or greater, Firefox 1.x, Netscape Communicator 7.1 or greater, or Safari 1.2 or greater
- Java 2 Runtime Environment (free download www.java.com)
- Flash Player 9 or latest version (free download at www.adobe.com)

*Internet Explorer Version 6.0 or greater for Windows is required to run Math Player, which is required for most math and science classes.

Students are fully responsible for removing file-sharing programs and correcting any effects caused by these programs. Use of such programs in violation of the intellectual property rights of others is a violation of KCPS Acceptable Use Policy and may violate the laws of the United States, subjecting student to removal from KCPS course(s), as well as other disciplinary or legal action more fully described in the Internet Acceptable Use Policy , and/or applicable laws. Failure to remove these programs may result in the inability to access courses and complete assignments. KCPS will provide directions regarding the removal of file-sharing programs which may interfere with course access. Despite the presence of any technological problems, students are expected to maintain their pace in all of their courses and are therefore responsible for seeking alternative methods of accessing their courses if necessary. Time extensions will not be granted.
